After Season, Bears to Move On From Matt Nagy

Despite a Bears win in Week 17, it appears that Matt Nagy’s tenure in Chicago is likely done following their Week 18 game in Minnesota.

Despite a 29-3 win for the Chicago Bears in Week 17 over the New York Giants, reports surfaced before the game that Matt Nagy’s tenure in Chicago is likely done. According to Ian Rapoport, the Bears are likely moving on from Nagy following their Week 18 game against the Vikings.

It is well documented how much the players like Nagy. However, after being called an offensive “guru” of sorts, the expectations set for Nagy have not been met by the fourth-year head coach. Now, it appears the Bears have finally made a decision on his future and will look to replace him in the coming weeks.

In three-plus seasons under Nagy, the Bears are 34-30. Despite an incredible 12-4 season in 2018, the Bears have been average, finishing .500 the last two years. The team won’t finish better than 7-10 this season even with a win in Week 18. With Nagy now on his way out, the new coaching hire is one of the most important decisions for the Bears moving forward.
