Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy met with the media Wednesday morning and announced Justin Fields will practice today. The Bears are practicing indoors and they plan to start Fields in the season finale in Minnesota.
Fields sustained an ankle injury several weeks ago and was limited in practice for quite some time. His season has been difficult, to say the least. He was injured in November and then missed two games before returning against Green Bay on Sunday Night Football.
Matt Nagy on Justin Fields’ Progress with the Bears
During the media session, Nagy discussed Fields’ progress in his rookie season. He praised the young quarterback for his hard work ethic and the poise he brought since day one. Nagy also commended Fields for improving over the course of the season.
Matt Nagy then discussed Fields’ command of the huddle and how it compares to the beginning of the season. He stated Fields has control of dispersing the plays and information to the offense and Nagy is proud of him for it. Furthermore, reading a defense right after breaking the huddle and seeing how it changes before the snap is a skill Nagy feels the rookie will develop with no issues with more repetitions.
Justin Fields will start the unprecedented 17th game in the Bears’ season finale this Sunday in Minnesota.
