Three Chicago Blackhawks players have entered COVID Protocol at an inopportune time. Ahead of Thursday night’s game at Arizona, the team placed Brandon Hagel, Erik Gustafsson, and Sam Lafferty in the protocol.

In a series of corresponding moves, the Blackhawks recalled Mike Hardman and Ian Mitchell from the AHL Rockford IceHogs while activating Nicolas Beaudin from the taxi squad. The team also added Kurtis Gabriel, Jakub Galvas, and Josiah Slavin to the taxi squad.

These developments will mostly affect the forward group. Brandon Hagel has been a mainstay up front, only missing three of the team’s 33 games this season. Sam Lafferty, who Chicago acquired from Pittsburgh on Wednesday, will have to wait to make his Blackhawks debut.

Thursday’s game marks the beginning of a three-game road trip for the Hawks. After visiting the Coyotes, the Blackhawks will travel to Vegas on Saturday and Columbus on Tuesday.
