Baseball may be locked out, but Chicago Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach looks ready for Spring Training in Arizona. In the second period of Thursday night’s game against the Coyotes, Dach knocked a puck out of mid-air for a baseball-style goal to get the Hawks on the board.

The goal came at a crucial time as the Blackhawks trailed the lowly Coyotes 2-0 through the first period. Dach’s unconventional score came just 1:01 into the second period and represented the start of a Blackhawks’ offensive surge. Chicago tied the game at two just over four minutes later before Arizona converted on a power play to retake the lead heading into the second intermission.

Kirby Dach has been the subject of tough scrutiny among the Blackhawks landscape recently. His goal on Thursday became just his sixth tally and 14th point of the season. While Dach ranks sixth on the team in scoring, Chicago is certainly looking for more from the former third overall draft pick.

He’s surely hoping this goal can get him and his team going, as the Hawks have dropped their past five contests. Things won’t get any easier going forward either. The Blackhawks travel to Vegas on Saturday and Columbus on Tuesday to close out a three-game road trip.
