Welp, this isn’t great. Just one day after Justin Fields was named the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears’ Week 18 game, the rookie has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Justin Fields is fully vaccinated, so his long-term health should be fine which is great news. However, with the news breaking this late in the week, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding his availability Sunday. If he can provide two negative tests 24 hours apart, he might be able to play. However, it’s safe to assume he will not start on Sunday.

With Fields likely sidelined, this leaves Matt Nagy with a decision to make. Should Nick Foles start after leading the Bears to a comeback victory in Seattle two weeks ago, or should Andy Dalton get the nod after defeating the Giants last week? The question is an intriguing one and could play a large part in Sunday’s outcome.

In the meantime, all we know is the Bears are probably without Justin Fields, meaning the last matchup with the Vikings in Week 15 marks his last game of 2021.
