Just mere hours after the Chicago Bears parted ways with Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, names for their vacancies began hitting Twitter on Monday afternoon. The team is reportedly going to interview Bills defensive coordinator and former Bear Leslie Frazier. In addition, reports indicate the team will interview former Eagles head coach and Super Bowl winner Dough Pederson as well.

Pederson didn’t coach in 2021 after being let go by Philadelphia following the 2020 season. Although a free agent, Pederson owns a 42-37-1 record as a head coach in the regular season, as well as a 4-2 postseason record. Add in the Super Bowl victory in his second season and you have a coach with a solid track record.

Despite the quality coaching resume, Pederson has a few red flags attached to him. For starters, his departure from the Eagles was met with scrutiny when he was accused of intentionally trying to lose in the last week of the season. Pederson pulled Jalen Hurts in favor of Nate Sudfeld in the third quarter. In addition, Pederson, like Nagy, is an Andy Reid disciple. That fact alone might be enough to scare fans when considering Pederson as a potential head coach.

It is only the first day of the Bears’ offseason, but there is plenty of noise surrounding the team. Brace yourselves fans, so far the list of coaching names is very underwhelming.
