If you haven’t heard, Zach LaVine hurt his left knee in Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors. It’s the same knee in which he tore his ACL back in 2017. Thankfully, the Chicago Bulls and their medical team do not think it’s an ACL injury.
The Bulls are currently first in the Eastern Conference. They have played an exciting brand of basketball all year after undergoing a complete facelift in the 2021 offseason. Losing LaVine for an extended period of time can hurt what was thought to be a truly competitive season for the Bulls.
If the Worst, What Next?
If LaVine is lost for an extended period of time, what do the Bulls do? Do they stay the course and possibly lose out on the MVP caliber season from DeMar DeRozan? Do they make a trade for someone like Jermai Grant or Harrison Barnes to shore up the power forward position that has haunted them since Patrick Williams went down? If they decide to make a trade, who’s the one to go? Patrick Williams or Coby White? White is actually healthy and can create instant offense which will be missed if LaVine is out for a while. Williams is a “project” that can turn out to be a star.
Look, I can sit here and speculate all day. It isn’t going to do us any good. That said, unlike other sports media sites on the web and “blogs”, we keep it real here at On Tap Sports Net. I am legit nervous. This season has been so much fun to watch and be a part of as a season ticket holder. I could be overreacting to the max here, which I probably am. However, in a season with true championship aspirations, it’s hard to potentially see them get ripped away.
