Former Chicago White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera is hanging up his spikes. The 37-year-old announced his retirement on Friday.

Cabrera, a 15-year veteran, spent two and a half seasons on the South Side of Chicago. The White Sox acquired him via free agency before the 2015 season, signing him to a three-year, $42 million deal. During his tenure with the Sox, Cabrera became quite the fan-favorite and resident clubhouse jokester. Arguably his best moment was a guitar-smashing at-bat in a Country Music Night commercial.

At one point, Melky Cabrera was even asked about his post-career plans and if they included acting. He immediately shot down the question, saying that he would prefer to stay home and spend time with his family. Now that day has finally come.
