Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Cease has found a new agent to represent him. Cease is now under the guidance of Scott Boras.
About Boras
Scott Boras is one of the top agents in all of sports. Forbes even named him the “Most Successful Sports Agent in the World”. The players he represents land some of the highest-paying salaries year in and year out. The likes of Gerrit Cole, Marcus Semien, and Nicholas Castellanos all retain Boras as an agent.
The Sox have notoriously struggled with Boras in the past. White Sox fans can easily call back to the pursuit of Bryce Harper. However, the relationship has improved over the last few years with Dallas Keuchel and former White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon both being Boras clients.
What This Means For Cease
Dylan Cease is coming off a year of quality improvement. He finally posted an ERA below 4.00 and his WHIP was 1.249. Cease also got the ball in Game 3 of the ALDS. The 2021 season was a step in the right direction for a player who had major control issues during his first two years. However, Cease still hasn’t hit the pinnacle of expectations the White Sox had when they traded for him.
Cease isn’t in a contract year, but he is in the first of his three arbitration years. Boras will help drive a tough bargain for the right-hander. The White Sox will need to start paying their young talent and Cease is a player they will likely want to re-sign.
