The NFL and USAA announced the finalists for the 11th annual Salute to Service award. Chicago Bears tight end Jimmy Graham joins Jarret Johnson of the Baltimore Ravens and Andrew Beck of the Denver Broncos on the list.
The Salute to Service Award recognizes exceptional effort provided by NFL stars within the military community. Graham has been an advocate for assisting military families throughout his career. The Jimmy Graham Foundation works closely with military families as well. The foundation helps provide flights for veterans and underprivileged youth to introduce them to aviation. Furthermore, Graham takes veterans up into two US Army aircraft restorations.

Jimmy Graham’s foundation also partnered with Wisconsin’s Luna Cafe to sell “Huey Blend” coffee, which is an homage to the Huey helicopter his restoration is based on.
At Chicago Bears games, the team honored veterans individually as part of the Bears’ Boeing Military Salute. The veterans also get to stay and watch a Bears game from seats provided by Jimmy Graham.
Lastly, Graham helped 250 military families last holiday season because he paid for individual Thanksgiving Day combination boxes being sent across the midwest.
Jimmy Graham’s Salute to Service nomination is an honorable feat and the Bears should be proud. The NFL will announce the winner during NFL Honors, which airs Thursday, Feb. 10 at 8:00 PM CST on ABC.
