Chicago Blackhawks prospects Dominic Basse and Drew Commesso are among 28 goaltenders on the 2022 Mike Richter Award Watch List, The Hockey Commissioners Association announced Thursday. The Mike Richter Award is given annually to the top goalie in men’s NCAA Division I hockey since 2014.
Basse (2019 sixth-rounder) is 6-8-2 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .906 save percentage in 16 games during his sophomore season at Colorado College.
Commesso (2020 second-rounder) is 9-7-3 with a 2.59 GAA and .909 save percentage in 20 games in his sophomore campaign at Boston University. He will miss a significant portion of the second half of the season while with the United States men’s hockey team at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
A committee of voters (coaches, administrators, scouts, and media) will narrow the list down to 15 players within two weeks. The committee will announce the winner in April during the NCAA Frozen Four at TD Garden in Boston.
