Ball has missed the past two games for the Bulls. The first game he missed was Chicago’s loss to the Celtics on Saturday. He was ruled out of that game due to “knee soreness.” We now know the source of that knee pain.
K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago asked head coach Billy Donovan if surgery was on the table. Donovan responded, “We haven’t gotten to that point right now.”
But on Thursday morning, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports Ball and the Bulls are considering an arthroscopic surgery that would keep the guard out for 4-6 weeks.
It is also important to note Ball had arthroscopic surgery performed on the same knee in July 2018 to address a similar tear.
Sources say there is hope Ball can play through the injury, but if he can’t, Chicago would likely be without him for a month-plus.
