Molson Coors, Coca-Cola Team Up to Create Simply Spiked Lemonade

Molson Coors has made a new alcoholic beverage for the ages. The company has paired with Coca-Cola to make Coke’s best-selling juice brand, Simply, into an alcoholic beverage line called “Simply Spiked”. The first wave of products, which will release in summer 2022, will feature various fruit flavors of lemonade. There will be four variants, including Signature Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Blueberry Lemonade, and Watermelon Lemonade. The drink will clock in at 5% ABV.

Simply is The Coca-Cola Company’s second-largest U.S. brand in terms of net revenue, only ranking behind the standard Coca-Cola soda. It is the nation’s top-selling refrigerated juice brand and is the go-to juice brand for over half of America. Customers already use Simply products as mixers for cocktails, so the pre-mixed, canned beverage should be a hit.

Molson Coors and Coca-Cola’s Thoughts

Molson Coors called the brand “a huge opportunity.”

“There’s nothing in the market quite like it, which is really exciting,” said Jamie Wideman, vice president of innovation for Molson Coors.

Wideman added that the Coca-Cola Company “has an amazing history of building iconic brands.”

“And with our track record of disrupting existing beverage alcohol categories with new brands with winning points of difference, we’re putting our strengths together in a way that’s collaborative and set up for success,” she continued.

The Excitement

The new line should excite flavored alcohol consumers, especially when the warm-weather months come around. Nothing beats drinking a vodka lemonade on the first warm day of summer. Thanks to Simply Spiked, the cocktail will be widely available and require less work.

Ever since the seltzer boom, there has been a demand for more flavored alcoholic beverages. For Simply Spiked, the flavors are already established in non-alcoholic forms and sell well on the juice side of the market. Two of the top beverage brands collaborating could lead to more exciting drinks in the future.
