Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has been ruled out of tonight’s game versus the Indiana Pacers. In the second game of an all-road, back-to-back sequence, the team thought it wise to rest LaVine, who has been dealing with back spasms.
LaVine struggled throughout most of Thursday night’s game, a 127-120 overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors. But it certainly was not for a lack of trying.
LaVine, who has also been nursing a sore knee, was in and out of the game due to painful back spasms. “It hurts,” he said after the loss to the Raptors. “That’s what happens when you play 42 minutes with back spasms.”
LaVine also said that he played with back spasms during the Bulls’ 126-115 victory over the Magic on Tuesday. Playing through the injuries is admirable and certainly shows the commitment LaVine brings night in and night out. “I’m just trying to help us win,” the now two-time NBA All-Star said.
The decision to keep Zach LaVine out may be a wise one, however. Tonight’s game against the Pacers is the second of a seven-game stretch set to occur within a 10-day timeframe. It is certainly the Chicago Bulls’ busiest part of the schedule to this point of the season.
