Blackhawks GM Search Kyle Davidson Eric Tulsky

The Chicago Blackhawks are following in the footsteps of NFL teams by announcing who they are interviewing for open front-office positions. The team announced Friday that they interviewed Kyle Davidson and Eric Tulsky for Chicago’s general manager position. Davidson currently serves as the Blackhawks’ interim GM and Tulsky is the assistant GM of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Kyle Davidson

Kyle Davidson took over as interim GM after Stan Bowman resigned in October. Bowman’s resignation came in response to a report by an outside law firm that found the organization mishandled sexual assault allegations from former player Kyle Beach against then-video coach Brad Aldrich during the team’s 2010 Stanley Cup run.

Davidson’s biggest move since then was firing Jeremy Colliton as head coach on Nov. 6 and promoting Derek King from AHL head coach to Blackhawks interim head coach.

Davidson started with the Blackhawks as a hockey operations intern in the summer of 2010. He has served as a hockey analytics/video analyst (2010-11), manager of hockey administration/operations (2011-18), assistant GM (2019-20), and assistant GM of hockey administration (20-21).

Eric Tuslky

Eric Tulsky is in his eighth season with the Hurricanes and second as assistant GM. He previously served as Carolina’s vice president of hockey management and strategy.

The other reported candidates for Chicago’s GM position are Peter Chiarelli and Scott Mellanby. Chiarelli, vice president of hockey operations of the St. Louis Blues, won the Stanley Cup in 2011 and reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2013 as GM of the Boston Bruins. Mellanby resigned as assistant GM of the Montreal Canadiens in November after he was informed he was no longer part of Montreal’s GM search.

Former Blackhawks forwards Marian Hossa, Eddie Olczyk, and Patrick Sharp are aiding the team with its GM search.
