Chicago Bulls Stand Pat At NBA Trade Deadline

The Bulls did not make a move on NBA trade deadline day. Look for the team to be active on the buyout market, however.

Well, the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone. The Chicago Bulls did not make a move and decided to stay with the roster they have.

As someone who loves to write and talk about this team, I accept it. The Bulls were atop of the Eastern Conference when healthy. Unfortunately, injuries have slowed them down. When Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball were healthy, the Bulls touted a top-10 offense and defense. They still possess the scoring talent to remain a top-10 offense (which they are) with players like DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. However, the defense has taken a major hit in the absence of Ball and Caruso.

The Bulls have also lacked size all year long while missing second-year forward Patrick Williams. Recent reports indicate he could return in mid-March after a wrist injury has sidelined him since the fifth game of the season. Before the playoffs even start, the Bulls could potentially regain Williams, Ball, Caruso, and Derrick Jones Jr.

Where Do The Bulls Go From Here?

Look for the Bulls to participate in the NBA buyout market. Names such as Goran Dragic, Tristian Thompson, Thaddeus Young, and many more have been floated as potential candidates.

Artuaras Karnisovas and Marc Eversley have gone a great job with this franchise this far, and now isn’t the time to doubt them. Always keep in mind the value that a competing team sends out needs to be reciprocated. Maybe there just wasn’t a deal that appealed to them.

It could be a tad bit disheartening to see most of the other playoff-bound Eastern Conference teams make improvements. But no one among the national media landscape thought the Bulls would be where they are at now. There is still time for Karnisovas and Eversley to improve their squad and make serious noise.

As of now, the Chicago Bulls rank third in the Eastern Conference and are surely a lock to make the NBA playoffs. If the players that have been lost for much of the season return come playoff time, that could potentially be better than any trade they could have made.
