The Chicago White Sox have signed catcher Raudy Read to a minor-league deal, according to Antonio Puesán. Read, a former Washington Nationals product, has not appeared in the Majors since 2019.

Read will likely fill organizational depth at the catcher spot in 2022 as Yasmani Grandal figures to see most of the work behind the plate in 2022. Behind Grandal, Zack Collins and Seby Zavala figure to slot above the 28-year-old Read on the White Sox depth chart.

Raudy Read spent the majority of his 2021 season with the Nationals Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. However, he only appeared in 22 games. Read slashed .288/.326/.575 in 86 plate appearances for Rochester.
