The Chicago Bulls have a good one — no, a great one — in DeMar DeRozan. The veteran forward took home NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for Feb. 7-13.

DeRozan lit up the stat sheet during that four-game stretch, averaging 36.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 4.8 APG while shooting 59.8% from the field. Even with the Bulls battling a plethora of injuries, DeRozan carried his team to a 3-1 record during his award-winning week.

The USC product has now scored 30-plus points in six straight games. With Zach LaVine sidelined for the immediate future, the Bulls will rely on DeRozan to lead them into the All-Star break on a strong note. Chicago hosts the Spurs tonight and the Kings on Wednesday before the weekend of festivities in Cleveland.

This is the third time DeMar DeRozan has earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors during the 2021-22 season. The previous occasions bookended the month of December. If DeRozan keeps up this level of play, those who deemed him “the worst signing of the offseason” may have to write stories about him earning MVP honors a few months down the road.
