The long-awaited final season of Peaky Blinders finally has a release date. Peaky Blinders Series 6 premieres on Feb. 27, 2022, on the BBC. As of this writing, there is no date for when the show will arrive at Netflix in the US, where it airs as a Netflix Original. Historically, Peaky Blinders has dropped on Netflix the first full Friday after the finale airs on the BBC. Using that logic for the six-episode series, I’d guess that we get our taste of Tommy and the Shelby clan on Friday, April 15. If that is correct, we will have a HELL of a TV weekend with the confirmation of Better Call Saul arriving on Monday, April 18.
While Season 6 will be the final one for the Peaky Blinders, it will not be the end of the story. Creator Stephen Knight told Variety that he plans on a movie to go into production in 2023.
Peaky Blinders Season 6: What to Expect
World War II is on the horizon as we saw the rise of Fascist leader Oswald Mosely. In Season 5, Tommy’s attempt to assassinate Mosley went sideways, with some harsh consequences. Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomons will likely have a big role to play with his “final act” in the first teaser.
One thing that will be difficult for the show to tackle is the story for Aunt Polly. Helen McRory passed away in April 2021, so resolving her character will be as difficult as it is heartbreaking. But the biggest mystery of the season? Who is the “black cat” that double-crossed Tommy and the Blinders? My money is on Johnny Dogs, but that is for another day.
