The Chicago Blackhawks recalled two players from the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday morning. Defenseman Alec Regula and goaltender Arvid Soderblom will join the NHL club. In a corresponding move, the Blackhawks assigned goaltender Cale Morris to Rockford.
It was a short but successful stint in Rockford for Arvid Soderblom. The Blackhawks assigned him to the AHL club on Tuesday afternoon to get him some action after keeping him on the NHL bench for the last week. Soderblom made 23 saves on 25 shots in addition to stopping all three shootout attempts to lead the IceHogs to a 3-2 victory over the Iowa Wild.
Alec Regula hasn’t seen NHL action this season, but he ranks fourth on the IceHogs in scoring. The right-handed defenseman has 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) in 25 games at the AHL level this season. He recorded four shots on goal and one assist in the IceHogs victory on Wednesday night.
Cale Morris heads back to Rockford after the Blackhawks recalled him to open up an IceHogs’ roster spot for Soderblom on Wednesday. Morris has a 1-1-0 record, .881 save percentage, and 2.55 goals-against average in his brief time with the AHL club this season.
