The Chicago Blackhawks will likely get some reinforcements back in net this weekend. The team expects goaltender Kevin Lankinen, who has missed the last 11 games, to return to the crease on Friday or Sunday.

Lankinen suffered a right hand injury in a game against the Minnesota Wild on Jan. 22. The Blackhawks placed him on injured reserve on Jan. 23 and he has been out of game action since.

The Finnish netminder has a 2-5-4 record, 3.41 goals-against average, and .889 save percentage in 13 games this season.

In Lankinen’s absence, Marc-Andre Fleury has seen the bulk of the action in goal. He has started all but one game since Lankinen went on the shelf. With Fleury likey on his way out of town sometime in the next month, Lankinen’s return is a welcome sight for the Blackhawks.

Chicago’s upcoming schedule features games against the New Jersey Devils on Friday and the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. The Blackhawks plan to start Kevin Lankinen in net for one of those games, according to interim head coach Derek King.
