Recent Chicago White Sox signee Oscar Colas will join the team in Arizona as early as next week, according to assistant general manager Chris Getz.

While Colas has been training at the team’s facility in the Dominican Republic since signing with the club, it is good news that he will be stateside for Spring Training.

If MLB’s lockout ends in time to salvage Spring Training games, Colas getting some early-season reps against MLB and advanced minor league arms will be important for his continued development. Should Colas see some Spring Training game action, it will also serve as a great measuring stick for where he should be placed in the system when camp breaks.

The White Sox officially signed Oscar Colas on Jan. 25. ranked him as the No. 5 international prospect in this year’s class.
