Chicago Blackhawks‘ forward Jujhar Khaira is likely done for the 2021-22 season. The 27-year-old underwent lower back surgery Tuesday and will be out of hockey activities for 10-12 weeks.

Khaira last saw game action on Jan. 17 before back issues forced him to injured reserve. The Blackhawks placed him on long-term injured reserve on Feb. 18. In 27 games this season, he notched three goals while averaging 13:36 of ice time.

The Blackhawks signed Jujhar Khaira as a free agent on July 28, 2021. His contract carries a $975K cap hit through next season.
