The MLBPA and MLB owners already postponed Spring Training games already. They still haven’t been able to reach an agreement to end the lockout after a full week of meetings. According to Evan Drellich of The Athletic, MLB has now canceled additional Spring Training games.

The MLBPA and MLB are at least talking

At this point, it’s positive that the two sides met every day over the past week. But they still seem quite far away from reaching a deal. MLB stated multiple times that if a deal is not reached by February 28, it will cancel regular-season games. Such a move would cause the first financial implications for players in missing game checks.

It was noted that Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred was in attendance during the meetings on Friday. According to a tweet from ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, Manfred met today with Tony Clark.

It’s also positive that the two sides will in fact meet for the sixth day in a row on Saturday. The MLBPA and the MLB owners staying engaged provides hope.

The canceled Spring Training games are already lost. Hopefully, a resolution is met before regular-season games are lost and Spring Training will begin.
