The Chicago Bulls are currently on a four-game losing streak. While they have seen positive signs of reinforcements nearing a return, with Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball, and Patrick Williams participating in non-contact workouts, there are still hurdles to climb. On Sunday, some clarity around Caruso’s timeline became available. According to Bulls Head Coach Billy Donovan, the defensive standout will need to be checked out again by a doctor before he can participate in contact practices.
Alex Caruso’s Impact on the Bulls
Without Alex Caruso, the Bulls have dropped from being one of the top 10 defensive teams in the NBA to the 28th ranked defensive team. To help fill the interior defensive and rebounding void, the team signed Tristan Thompson from the buy-out market. In the small sample size, there have been minor improvements in these defensive areas. However, there have been no changes in the final game results. The defense starts with the perimeter which Alex Caruso ultimately excels at. Until Caruso is present, the Bulls will always be chasing fourth quarter deficits.
