Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Norge Vera is facing a bit of a setback. Vera has a Grade 1 lat strain, per White Sox assistant GM Chris Getz.
An injury before the season starts is never ideal, but the young hurler is still throwing. Getz plans to gradually build Norge Vera up for the MiLB season. He will most likely break camp after the minor league season starts. While MLB’s lockout continues, MiLB action will continue as scheduled.
Last season, Vera participated in the Dominican Summer League. He threw 19 innings, allowing nine hits, and two runs with 34 strikeouts and a 0.737 WHIP. As he continues his development, Norge Vera will be a player to keep an eye on this year, especially as the lockout persists. Great pitching depth is needed in every winning organization.
