According to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, Chicago Cubs pitcher Adbert Alzolay will miss upwards of two months with his right lat strain. And apparently, it’s the same injury he suffered in 2018.
This is brutal news for the North Siders. The last time Alzolay suffered an injury like this, the Cubs shut him down for the season in mid-June of 2018. That’s quite an extended period. Hopefully he can return a little sooner this time around, but the Cubs should avoid rushing him back. Further damaging his shoulder could be detrimental to his long-term outlook.
Perhaps the time off will allow him to study more pitching and work on the mental side of the game. But for the time being, the Chicago Cubs must prepare for the season without Adbert Alzolay.
