NFL free agency is chugging along and Bears’ GM Ryan Poles is letting another free agent walk. This time it’s the Chicago Bears Pro Bowl return specialist, Jakeem Grant, who’s signing with the Cleveland Browns. The reported deal is for three years and is worth $13.8 million.
Jakeem Grant was one of the few bright spots on the Bears’ underwhelming receiving core last year. He had numerous big-yardage plays that gave the Bears a spark. Outside of being a stellar returner, he was a formable receiver in Matt Nagy’s offense. He was utilized downfield and on pitches just like this one against the Packers.
Jakeem Grant was able to make the Pro Bowl based on his kickoff returning abilities with the Bears. Grant still holds the second-longest punt return in Chicago Bears history and it was a beauty.
Jakeem Grant joins a Cleveland Browns team with many questions left to answer. The biggest one is who will be the quarterback. The Browns met with Deshaun Watson among multiple other teams in pursuit of him. If that falls through, Baker Mayfield has already said his goodbyes. Grant will join Amari Cooper in Cleveland as they look to rebuild.
