Just hours after the Larry Ogunjobi signing fell through and the Chicago Bears signed Justin Jones, the team continues to add. On the defensive line, the Bears have added a familiar face to head coach Matt Eberflus, inking former Colts DE Al-Quadin Muhammad to a two-year deal.

Muhammad spent four seasons in Indianapolis prior to signing with the Bears. Before that, he appeared in four games his rookie year with the New Orleans Saints. Last season was Muhammad’s best of his career. He started all 17 games, registered 48 combined tackles and seven tackles for-a-loss. In addition, he racked up six sacks and 13 QB hits in 2021.

This is a nice signing for the Bears. Aside from being additional depth on the defensive line, Muhammad has experience in Eberflus’ defense. He can be a player that others look to for guidance on how the system works and operates. In addition, it’s helpful for Alan Williams to have such a player on his defensive line in his first year as defensive coordinator.

The Bears are likely not done. However, first-year GM Ryan Poles continues to make very solid moves in his first offseason at the helm.
