On Friday night ahead of the Chicago Bulls matchup with the Phoenix Suns in Arizona, Billy Donovan spoke with the media. When discussing the topic of Lonzo Ball’s return, Donovan said he is taking longer than expected.
This is certainly not the news the Bulls or their fans were hoping for. Ball has been out since January 20 when he was diagnosed with a meniscus tear in his left knee. After weighing options, Ball opted to have surgery and was expected to miss a month or more. Well, it has been two months since the point guard suited up for the Bulls. His presence has been sorely missed recently in Chicago.
Without Ball and Alex Caruso for most of March, the Bulls are only 2-5 in their last seven games. Although Caruso is back, this team could really use Ball and Patrick Williams’ talents in the lineup. Williams is practicing with the Windy City Bulls to get back up to speed and should be back in Chicago as early as next week. Despite the good news for Williams, Ball’s timeline remains very much in question with the update on Friday night.
The Bulls and Suns square off in Phoenix for some Friday night NBA action. Following Friday, the Bulls return home on Monday for a rare March home game against the Toronto Raptors. Tip-offs are scheduled for 9:00 p.m. CDT and 7:00 p.m. CDT, respectively.
