When Larry Ogunjobi was unable to pass his physical, Ryan Poles wasted no time signing Justin Jones. Once Jones inked his two-year deal, he met with reporters on Friday. According to Jones, he was really close to signing with the Indianapolis Colts. Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus called Jones at midnight on Friday and convinced him the Bears were the best fit. Jones agreed and pivoted to the Bears.

Justin Jones brings a young, impressive lineman to play the three-technique role for Eberflus and defensive coordinator Alan Williams. Jones will be a huge help in stopping the run. Jones is coming off the best season of his career. He totaled 37 tackles, three sacks, five QB hits, five tackles-for-loss, and two fumble recoveries.

The jury is still out on whether Ebrflus will make a great head coach. However, it is a positive sign that he can persuade young talent to come to the Bears. Eberflus also exemplified that he always has a back up plan when things fall through with his first option.
