When it rains, it pours. Yes, that is a pun because it’s pouring in the Chicagoland area right now. Even though I laughed when I typed it, I instantly got upset again regarding today’s Chicago Bulls’ injury report, which includes DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.
Zach LaVine will most likely be on the injury report for the rest of the season. His left knee has presented issues since January after he tweaked it against the Warriors. DeMar DeRozan ending up on the injury report was shocking, to say the least. It seems he strained his groin in the loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
Quite frankly, the Chicago Bulls are fighting for their guaranteed playoff lives right now. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games and two games away from being in the NBA Play-In Tournament. The Bulls started off the season hot, even though they dealt with many trials and tribulations. COVID affected them in the going of the season, and then injuries started to pile up.
They weathered those storms but now seem to be lost in some sort of funk, failing to put together any winning streaks of note. As far as Thursday’s matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans goes, they need all hands on deck. The Pelicans are trying to make the Western Conference Play-In Tournament and are not some “tanking” team. Hopefully after an off day today, DeRozan and LaVine will feel rejuvenated and be on the court Thursday night.
