On Tuesday morning, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association named DePaul freshman, Aneesah Morrow, the National Freshman of the Year. The young Blue Demons star also won the 2021-22 Tamika Catchings Award winner as the National Freshman Player of the Year.

The Chicago native was an absolute force on the court for the Blue Demons this past season leading the nation with 13.8 rebounds-per-game. She also recorded 27 double-doubles while averaging 21.9 points-per-game.

The Blue Demons’ tournament run was cut short after losing to Dayton in the opening round. However, despite the loss, Morrow dominated the game. She finished with 28 points and 17 rebounds.

Aneesah Morrow’s most captivating performance this past season was her game against the Blue Demons’ arch-rival: Marquette. She shattered the Big East freshman scoring record with a career-high of 41 points while adding 18 rebounds to her incredible performance. The previous Big East freshman record was 37 points.

Aneesah Morrow has a bright future ahead of her, especially with playing under college basketball legend Doug Bruno. Morrow will be arguably the most exciting player to watch in the coming years if she continues her dominance.
