The Chicago Bears brought back a familiar face on Monday. Per reports, team re-signed tight end Jesper Horsted.
Apparently, Horsted returns to the Bears as an exclusive-rights free agent.
The 25-year-old tight end initially signed with the team in 2019 as an undrafted free agent. He saw limited action that season and did not play in 2020. Entering the 2021 season, Horsted made some dazzling and noteworthy plays during preseason action as he developed chemistry with Justin Fields.
During the regular season last year, Horsted played in seven games, logging two catches for 21 yards on three targets. However, both receptions were touchdowns, including one that came as the clock expired on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.
Overall, Jesper Horsted returning to the Bears gives Fields another familiar option when he drops back to pass. The 6-foot-4 tight end will now look to move up the depth chart to fulfill a more pivotal role alongside Cole Kmet, especially with Jimmy Graham no longer on the roster.
