Chicago Bulls guards Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso both missed Monday’s practice at the Advocate Center. For LaVine, it’s the same old left knee giving him issues again. Caruso missed practice to rest his back. Back issues can be tricky, so the Bulls are surely hoping Caruso’s absence is just precautionary.

Zach LaVine has been a warrior since sustaining a left knee injury in January against the Golden State Warriors. He has missed a game or two here and there but overall has battled through it trying to help will his team to victories. A recent mainstay on the injury report, LaVine will be dealing with the knee ailment for the rest of the season. He must pick and choose his spots regarding when to rest so he’s available for the most important games.

As far as Alex Caruso goes, he just needed some rest. The defensive stalwart plays a physical brand of basketball that isn’t easy on the body. When today’s practice ended, Caruso got some shots up on the court and confirmed he will play Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Back injuries are no joke, so let’s hope this is general soreness that won’t become a lingering issue.

The Chicago Bulls currently hold the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 45-33 record. They are currently 5.5 games out of the first seed and only two games away from having to endure the play-in tournament. That’s what makes these little injuries so worrisome. There simply isn’t room for error or having any key players out as the regular season nears its end.
