Another day, another Chicago Red Stars signing. On Tuesday evening, the club announced the signing of Australian forward Chelsie Dawber to a two-year contract with a third-year option.
The forward played 15 games, starting in 14, for Adelaide United FC of the Australian A-League Women. The 22-year-old recorded 10 of her team’s 33 goals, and three assists, during the club’s run to the A-League semi-finals round last season.
“I am really excited to be joining the Red Stars,” said Dawber. “Growing up it has always been my dream to play overseas. I am very grateful to Chris and the team for providing me this amazing opportunity!”
Head coach Chris Petrucelli gave the young forward high praise. “Chelsie is an impressive young player,” said Petrucelli. “She adds versatility and athleticism to an already dangerous attacking group.”
Chelsie Dawber’s arrival date to join her new team is dependent on approval of her visa application. In the meantime, the Chicago Red Stars will continue training for their next match against Racing Louisville on April 16.
