The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with Swedish defenseman Filip Roos, according to Swedish media outlet Sport Bladet.

The 23-year-old scored six points (one goal, five assists) in 50 games for Skellefteå AIK in the SHL, Sweden’s top division. He has added one assist in three playoff games. Skellefteå hold a 2-1 series lead against Färjestad BK in the quarterfinals.

Roos (6-foot-4, 190 pounds) joined Skellefteå after spending the past two seasons with BIK Karlskoga in HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden’s second division.

Roos is the first European import to sign with the Blackhawks under general manager Kyle Davidson. Chicago built a reputation under former GM Stan Bowman as an organization keen on signing European players.

Filip Roos will reportedly join the 11 defensemen under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2022-23 season, according to CapFriendly.
