The Chicago Cubs head west to visit Kris Bryant and the Colorado Rockies for a four-game series at Coors Field.

Bryant signed a seven-year, $182 million contract with the Rockies in March after he split last season with the Cubs and San Francisco Giants. The Cubs traded Bryant, a 2016 World Series champ and NL MVP, to the Giants for prospects Alexander Canario and Caleb Kilian last July. Bryant is slashing .350/.391/.500 with two RBIs in 20 at-bats this season for the Rockies (4-1).

The Cubs (3-2), as expected, will have to wait to see if their return was enough. Canario is in High-A South Bend, while Kilian, the 2021 Arizona Fall League MVP, is with Triple-A Iowa. With prospects from numerous deadline trades developing in the minors, Chicago is looking to bridge toward the future and is looking good so far this season. Pitching is heralded as the main question mark on the major league roster, and it’ll be tested at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

The Rockies had a day off Wednesday after sweeping a two-game set at the Texas Rangers, 6-4 in 10 innings and 4-1. The Cubs split a two-game set at the Pittsburgh Pirates, winning the first game 2-1 and falling 6-2 on Wednesday.
