According to Bob Nightengale, Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward will be donating his salary from Friday’s game on Jackie Robinson Day. He will do so in order to help struggling inner-city and rural baseball teams.
Heyward is no stranger to helping the community. For the past several years he’s made several generous donations to many organizations. The Cubs outfielder has helped many charities including The Players Alliance, the University of Chicago Medicine, the Mothers Against Senseless Killing, and the Greater Chicago Food Depository, just to name a few.
Once again Jason Heyward is stepping up in his community. This time to help grow the game of baseball. It’s always awesome to see players step up in their community whenever they can. Cubs fans may have their indifferences about his stats on the field. However, nobody can deny that the man is a legend off the field and a leader in the clubhouse.
