The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians will have to wait a little longer for their first matchup of the 2022 season. The Guardians announced that Monday’s series opener has been postponed due to inclement weather. The AL Central foes will make up the game on July 12 at 12:10 PM CT. That contest will be the first game of a split doubleheader.
This week’s series will now become a three-game set barring any further weather-driven postponements. The Cleveland forecast currently shows a chance for rain on Tuesday and Thursday, which is an unsurprising outlook for April baseball in the Midwest.
The White Sox enter their fourth series of the season with an American League-best 6-3 record. Cleveland ranks second in the AL Central with a 4-5 record, trailing the South Siders by two games.
Regarding the makeup date, the Chicago White Sox’s gauntlet early July schedule now becomes even more grueling. The July 12th doubleheader means the Pale Hose will play 18 games in 17 days leading into the All-Star break. But given their early-season injuries, especially to the pitching staff, the rescheduling should allow for improved roster availability on the new game date.
