According to multiple sources around the NFL, the Chicago Bears are reportedly signing offensive tackle Julie’n Davenport. The 27-year-old spent two years in both Houston and Miami before playing one season with the Colts.
Julie’n Davenport’s Career
The Houston Texans drafted Julie’n Davenport 130th overall in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in 27 games with the Texans and suited up in 24 contests for the Miami Dolphins. He also recorded one fumble recovery each year with Houston.
Last season with the Indianapolis Colts, Julie’n Davenport played in nine games and started four of them.
The 6-foot-7, 315 lb lineman spent his college career with the Bucknell Bison. He played in 33 games from 2014 to 2016.
The Chicago Bears are likely signing Davenport for more depth on the offensive line. GM Ryan Poles clearly knows how to manage that particular position and reminds us well that bodies on the field matter. With the draft right around the corner, it doesn’t hurt to give the incoming rookies some competition to learn the speed of the professional level.
