It’s no surprise to hear veteran players like Eddie Jackson give generic answers to reporters. It’s mostly expected at this point, but there were a few comments that stood out from Jackson’s brief meeting with the media on Thursday. The Chicago Bears only have one player left from the 2017 draft class and that’s Jackson. The change is weird but there isn’t much the players can do except adapt.
When asked about new Bears head coach Matt Eberflus and his defensive system, Jackson said it’s simpler. He also said that when it comes to new coaches and schemes, there isn’t much they can do.
“Change is different but you got to control what you can control and get used to the guys that we got right now.”– Eddie Jackson
Jackson proceeded to describe how he can control his own effort and ability on the field. He wants to improve from last year, which he called one of his worst seasons. Jackson states that he gave up too many deep balls.
Lastly, Eddie Jackson feels confident that he fits well with coach Eberflus’ system. So far, he enjoys the new coaching staff and says they’re all good people. It helps transition into a new system when the people get along and Jackson feels confident that Eberflus will put him in a prime position to succeed. He also anticipated racking up more takeaways in the Chicago Bears 2022 season, which would be a welcomed development.
