It’s April in Chicago and Mother Nature strikes again. With rain expected in the Chicagoland area on Friday afternoon, the Chicago Cubs game against the Pittsburgh Pirates has been flexed to a 7:05 p.m. CDT start time. The game was originally scheduled for 1:20 p.m. CDT.

Gates will still open at the normal hour and a half before first pitch. The Cubs dealt with weather on Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Rays. The game was flexed to 5:30 p.m. to avoid rain, but the game was ultimately called in the sixth inning because Mother Nature had other plans.

On Friday, the Cubs are trotting out LHP Drew Smyly. The southpaw will make his third start in a Cubs uniform following a sensational start to the 2022 season. Through 9.2 innings pitched, Smyly has five strikeouts, only one walk, a 1-0 record, and a 0.00 ERA. On the flipside, the Pirates are sending lefty and Cubs legend Jose Quintana to the mound to face his former club for the second time this season.
