Multiple Chicago White Sox injury updates came to light on Friday. Prior to the series opener in Minnesota, the team shared the latest on Luis Robert, Yoan Moncada, and Josh Harrison.

Luis Robert

Robert suffered a groin strain Thursday that caused him to exit early from the White Sox’s game against the Cleveland Guardians. Manager Tony La Russa initially feared the dynamic centerfielder might require an injured list stint. But Robert’s outlook is a bit more encouraging after Friday’s update.

It seems the club will aim to avoid placing Robert on the injured list. He sat out Friday night in Minnesota and figures to do so for the final two games of the weekend series. The White Sox plan to use this time, coupled with an off-day Monday, as a mini break for Robert.

La Russa hopes to get the Cuban slugger back in the lineup Tuesday if all goes well. If Robert does return when the White Sox open their series vs. the Royals, he will have missed just three games.

Yoan Moncada

Moncada has been on the injured list since Opening Day due to a right oblique strain. Prior to Friday, there haven’t been many updates on the third baseman. But Moncada was spotted partaking in some baseball activities prior to the White Sox’s series opener vs. the Twins.

While this is a positive update, the White Sox did not share a projected return timeline. Upon placing Moncada on the injured list, the club estimated he would be out for approximately three weeks. That update came on April 7.

Josh Harrison

Harrison exited the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader in Cleveland due to right shoulder soreness. He made an incredible catch going back on a fly ball in shallow left field but landed awkwardly after jumping to avoid a sliding Andrew Vaughn. Harrison sat out Thursday and Friday and has been receiving shoulder treatment.

However, he hopes to get back in the lineup Saturday when the Chicago White Sox continue their weekend series in Minnesota. The South Siders have not yet announced their lineup for Game 2 vs. the Twins.
