The Chicago Cubs start a six-game road trip Tuesday with a three-game series against the reigning World Series champion Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

The Cubs (7-9) have lost five of their past six games, including three of four against the Pirates this past weekend at Wrigley Field. Chicago scored 29 total runs and outscored Pittsburgh by a combined 17 runs, but still couldn’t split or win the series against the Pirates. The majority of the Cubs’ runs came in a 21-0 win Saturday. Despite a disappointing series with two one-run losses, there were a few bright spots for the Cubs.

The Braves (7-10) won last year’s World Series without Ronald Acuna Jr., but his absence so far this season is evident. Atlanta has yet to win a series with Acuna in the later stages of his rehab from a tore right ACL from last July. The Cubs are just missing the star outfielder’s return, which is projected for the first weekend in May.

Atlanta enters the series against Chicago having dropped five of its past seven games, including three of its past four. The Braves are 4-6 in home games, an identical record to the Cubs’ on the road.
