The Chicago Bulls will be without a pair of guards as they look to extend their first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. The team officially ruled out Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso for a must-win Game 5.
LaVine, who, in tandem with DeMar DeRozan, has accounted for 45.2% of the points the team has scored this series, entered health and safety protocols Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Caruso, the battery in the back of the Bulls’ defense, is in concussion protocol resulting from a blow to the face in the second quarter of Game 4 Sunday.
As if a do-or-die duel with the defending champs didn’t already pose a great enough challenge, the Bulls will really be ice skating uphill in an effort to extend their season.
In contrast to how the past two games have unfolded at the United Center where they lost by an average of 27 points, the Bulls played the defending champs well at Fiserv Forum. They briefly stole home-court advantage on the strength of DeRozan’s playoff career-high 41 points in Game 2.
Still, without Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso, the Chicago Bulls appear to be headed for a crash landing into the offseason.
