The forward, who turned 16 on April 14, scored 116 points (46 goals, 70 assists) in 57 games for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA team in the Greater Toronto Hockey League this season. The 2024 NHL Draft prospect added a four-point performance (two goals, two assists) in one OJHL game for the Jr. Canadiens.
“He’s a very talented, dynamic forward who fits our style of play perfectly,” Steel general manager Mike Garman said in a release. “We want to thank the Hage family for giving us the opportunity to further Michael’s development both as a player and a person. Michael is passionate about becoming the best player he can be and we’re grateful our values on player development and team success align seamlessly.”
Hage (6-foot, 172 pounds) scored 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in seven OHL Cup games. His 16 points ranked second in the tournament behind Michael Misa’s 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists). The 15-year-old Misa received exceptional status to enter the OHL a year early as the top pick by the Saginaw Spirit.
“I am very excited to sign with the Chicago Steel,” Hage said. “I look forward to playing and growing within such an amazing organization that has an unparalleled track record of developing players. I can’t wait to get started and work hard to take my game to the next level and contribute to the success of the team. I am very thankful for this amazing opportunity.”
