The Chicago Bears finally went offense with their third-round pick. After taking a cornerback and safety with their two second-round picks, respectively, the Bears opted to help out quarterback Justin Fields. With the 71st overall pick, Ryan Poles opted to select 24-year-old WR Velus Jones Jr. from Tennessee. He stands 5-foot-11, 204 pounds.

Jones Jr. spent four years at USC (2016-19) before transferring to Tennessee for two years (2020-21). During his collegiate career in 59 games, he hauled in 120 catches for 1,434 yards and 11 TDs. Jones Jr. also impacted the running game by adding 15 rushes for 59 yards and a lone TD.

The Bears were in need of a WR after Allen Robinson departed for the Los Angeles Rams. It’ll be interesting how Velus Jones Jr. is used in Luke Getsy’s offense. Nevertheless, Justin Fields is getting some reinforcements on offense.
