The Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles continues to add to the team after their aggressive NFL Draft. Ryan Poles is quite familiar with former Chiefs players and this new addition is no different. The Bears claimed former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, Chris Finke, off waivers on Wednesday.
Chris Finke has not yet seen any regular season NFL action. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. In 2021, he signed with the Chiefs but was injured during OTAs. The Chiefs released him shortly after.
Finke spent his five college years playing for Notre Dame but didn’t see the football field until his sophomore season. In his five years, Finke caught 106 passes for 1,251 yards and eight touchdowns. In 47 games with Notre Dame, Chris Finke also returned 73 punts and five kickoffs. He recorded 602 punt return yards and 85 kickoff return yards.
The Chicago Bears are likely adding Chris Finke for depth at the wide receiver position. His ability to perform on special teams is highly advantageous for himself because the Bears can also utilize that and keep him rostered. After losing Tarik Cohen and bringing in several players to fill those needs, having additional depth in multiple positions cannot hurt.
