Over the weekend, the Chicago Bears held their rookie minicamp. They selected edge rusher, Dominique Robinson, with the 174th pick in the NFL Draft and he met with the media on Saturday. He had some interesting comments about his abilities and changing positions throughout his career.

Dominique Robinson described himself as still a very raw prospect. He played multiple positions throughout his life like quarterback and wide receiver. But rushing the quarterback is relatively new to him and head coach Matt Eberflus is excited about Robinson’s abilities.

“I’ve been doing football at home during this long period until I got here. But when you get here and get into things, you still got to learn. The reps count.”

Robinson Has Great Potential For The Chicago Bears

Over the pandemic-ridden seasons, Robinson identified that he wasn’t in a proper stance and that he needed to work on it.

“After so many games of not performing the way I wanted, I just looked at my teammates who were in better stances and I mimicked what they did.”

Robinson worked on his defensive skills over the last few seasons because he knew it could propel him to the next level. He worked not only on rushing the passer but put some emphasis on stopping the run as well. He mentioned the run game is something the Chicago Bears are currently focusing on and that it’s important to keep getting better.

Dominique Robinson is extremely self-aware and can understand when his game needs work. He wasn’t executing at the wide receiver position the way that he should have been in college. Using Chase Young as motivation, he increased his size, strength, and speed to switch over to defense and solidify his moment in the spotlight.
